A Message from the School Principal
Welcome to Stella Maris Catholic Primary School. I hope that the information contained in these pages will give you an insight into the overall structure of the school and the philosophy by which we operate.
At Stella Maris, our children, parent community, Parish community and teachers work in partnership to support and nurture each individual in our community. We endeavour to provide the best educational resources and facilities to enhance our learning environment.
We believe that children and teachers achieve their potential when working together as communities of learners. We have flexible learning spaces, consisting of Learning Neighbourhoods, enabling staff to take responsibility for all children in the neighbourhood and to learn from and inspire each other as professionals. Teachers collaboratively plan contemporary, engaging learning experiences in professional learning teams and level meetings. The teamwork, commitment and dedication of all staff leads to spiritual, academic, social and emotional success for all.
We believe that we are called to care for all in our local and global community. Our school motto ‘courage always’ inspires each child, parent and staff member to take action in supporting social justice initiatives. We challenge our students to inquire about school based issues, wider community and global issues and to ‘take action’ through student voice. We support social justice through enacting our strong vision and mission and promoting the Gospel values.
We strive to develop a differentiated, contemporary learning environment that is technologically and academically stimulating by providing students with the opportunity to experience success in the pursuit of excellence. A culture of inquiry, curiosity and deep thinking is central to our educational philosophy.
We call this the ‘Spirit of Stella’.
Potential, Learning, Energy, Faith, Courage
At the heart of Stella Maris is the desire to develop the infinite potential of every person.
Learning is a journey of endless possibilities where we are energised to seek and explore questions about the world around us.
Nourished by a strong sense of belonging is the foundation upon which our community can flourish.
Through Jesus Christ, learning enlivens our Catholic Faith, so that we can live, learn and grow with ‘courage always’.
“Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and
certain of what we do not see.”
Love your neighbour as yourself.’
There is no commandment greater than these.”
“Have unity of mind, sympathy, brotherly love,
a tender heart and a humble mind.”
(1 Peter 3:8)
For nothing will be impossible with God.
Then Mary said ‘Here am I the servant of the Lord.”
“And you will know truth, and the truth will make you free.”
“In all this I have given you an example that by such work we must support the weak, remembering the words of the Lord Jesus, for he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”
“Here is my servant, the one I have chosen.
He is the one I love, and I am very pleased with him.
I will fill him with my Spirit, and he will bring justice to the nations”
“Let no evil talk come out of your mouths,
but only what is useful for building up, as there is need,
so that your words may give grace to those who hear”
