Enrolment

Enrolment and Transition to school

Students enrolling in Prep come from a variety of kindergartens, early learning centres and child care centres in Beaumaris and surrounding suburbs.

Students from Stella Maris successfully continue their education at many schools, including St Bede’s College, Mentone, Star of the Sea College, Brighton, Kilbreda College, Mentone and Beaumaris Secondary College.

Although we have an Open Day each year to enable families to see our wonderful school, we welcome enquiries at any stage of the year. Please phone our school office on 9589 2641 to arrange an individual tour, and meeting with the principal, for your family.

Dear Families,

It is coming to that time of the year when you will be making a decision about your child’s Primary School Education, beginning in 2024.

We at Stella Maris, recognise that this important decision needs to be made with the support of current knowledge and information. Therefore, we invite you to visit our school and see what makes it special. Stella Maris is a Catholic Primary School situated in Oak Street, Beaumaris with 200 students currently enrolled. The school has a long history in the area, and a reputation for offering quality education for families for over sixty years.
Our friendly and committed school community works very hard to maintain contemporary teaching and learning, resources, equipment and buildings for our school. At Stella Maris we provide a safe environment where your child’s right to learn and play are valued
We endeavour to present a challenging and contemporary faith based curriculum and strive to achieve excellent spiritual, social, emotional and academic results. Evidence of our success can be found on the ‘Myschool’ website and our website. A strong education is more than academic results. We consider every child to be an individual learner. Our school has a strong focus on Student Wellbeing
At Stella Maris, English and Mathematics are emphasised, as are the broader capabilities of the Victorian Curriculum; Language, the Arts, Health & Physical Education, the Humanities, Science, Technology, Critical and Creative Thinking, Personal and Social Capabilities. Our curriculum highlights the cross- curricula priorities of Sustainability, Aboriginal perspectives and Asian Perspectives. Our curriculum is differentiated in order to enable personalised learning.
We will be holding Open Mornings in March, May and July. Other private tours are also be available to those who cannot attend.

Our Prep Teachers and Student Leaders will speak to you and I will present information about our enrolment policy and our school. We will tour the school, where you will be able to briefly meet our staff and students and find out what makes our school unique.

At the Open Mornings, you will be given a list of key dates for the Enrolment and Transition Process. After you have completed and returned an Enrolment Form to the school, an individual family interview will be scheduled to discuss your child’s transition to school.

I look forward to meeting you.

Kind regards

Yvan Frederic
